Devika

In 2020 we learned about a family with two disabled people. Devika has chronic lymphoedema, is on penicillin and has been declared disabled for life. Her teenage son, Nandoon is autistic and, although her husband Deepanada works hard, he could only afford to start the foundation of a house.

Living in very poor, unsafe circumstances, they were thrilled when we agreed to build them a home. It has made a world of difference to them. "We used to all sleep in one bed and now my grown son has his own room which he loves," says Devika. "I am so grateful that my family now lives in safety and I am very proud that I can help us by having a dressmaking business."
