CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP

Many of our volunteers, who have employers with strategic emphasis on social responsibility have been supported in their volunteering. The corporate assistance varies:

  • Paid time off for volunteering.

  • Financial contribution or donations matching.

  • Fundraising campaigns at work.

  • Contributions to TRIP Canada projects.

  • Gifts for kids and families.

Whatever form the support takes the goodwill fostered between employee and employer is remarkable. Two organizations played a very significant role building the village for tsunami survivors.

ROGERS COMMUNICATIONS

“After personally experiencing the life-changing impacts of volunteering with TRIP Canada, I knew it would be an incredible opportunity to bring to my employees at Rogers.”

Nick Cunliffe

We were fortunate to be able to send several employees a year on a building trip, supporting their growth and development while opening their eyes to the impact that they can make in the world. It proved to be a transformative experience for many of those able to participate. They made lifelong friendships while working in and absorbing a completely different culture and lifestyle in Sri Lanka. They also learned valuable lessons in teamwork and philanthropy – lessons they brought home inspiring them to be deeply involved in improving their communities to this day.

SOFTCHOICE

“Not only was international volunteering personally rewarding for me and the team, it increased employee loyalty, differentiated Softchoice’s culture and gave us a competitive advantage with our people.”

Dave MacDonald

President and CEO, Dave MacDonald, was an innovative leader making philanthropy a strategic imperative at Softchoice. Through Softchoice Cares, his employees could fundraise for causes and, more importantly, get personally involved volunteering with the company’s backing. When the tsunami devastated Sri Lanka, Dave pledged significant support and his employees immediately jumped on board. Over the next five years, new homes were funded, and teams of Softchoice Cares volunteers travelled to Sri Lanka. They built houses and installed computer labs for schools in poor areas. Working hard, having fun and growing as a team along the way.

Over time Softchoice’s philanthropic initiatives became a competitive advantage in both recruiting and retaining talent. Softchoice’s culture was differentiated as a result and was an enabler to the company being among very few Canadian organizations recognized over 18 years on the “Best Places to Work” recognition list.
